Dapple 1.22 - I guess you all know what dapple is by now. Changes:
1.22: Hooked the $1B interrupt, so that Ctrl-Break is effectively ignored except in the emulation itself. This time it works properly!
1.21: Ctrl-Break now resets, although when F10 is pressed, you see ^C. A cosmetic problem only; other than displaying ^C, nothing happens. (This could be very easy to solve, but I have to figure this out. It seems to be tied to the $1B interrupt; I hooked $23.)

Caprice32 v3.50 - Caprice32 is a 32-bit Amstrad CPC Emulator. Changes in this version are;
Rewrote all DirectX code to be more robust and error tolerant.
The CPC screen is no longer being painted with hardware stretch blits by default, which should prevent the extreme slow-downs some users experienced.
Caprice32 now goes to sleep when loosing focus or getting minimized: CPU usage drops to zero.
Emulation can now be switched between windowed and full-screen mode. Full-Screen mode is user defined in resolution and bit depth.
Switched to a different timing mechanism which keeps the emulator running closer to the original speed than before.
Fixed sound playback - pops and clicks during playback should now be a thing of the past.
Emulator Configuration is once again being stored in a file in the emulator directory and no longer in the Registry.
New screen rendering methods: scanlines, line doubling (software), and line doubling (hardware).
New speed selector in the Options dialog: the emulator speed can now be fixed at multiples of the original CPC speed.
Added the option of colour and green monitor.
Added error condition checks to zip, DSK and SNApshot routines.
Added a modified DSK check at emulator exit so user won't loose their work.
Implemented a completely new way to manage input: users can now map the CPC joysticks to any keyboard key or other connected control device, in any combination. See the updated documentation for more details.
Mouse cursor now auto-hides to be less obtrusive.
Support for French and Spanish keyboard layouts.
Some fixes to the Z80 OUT handler involving the GA colour palette and PPI Port C.
Added support for CDT tapes: still some work to be done here, as most SpeedLock protected games fail to load! Enjoy in moderation...
Added 48 and 96 kHz sound playback options - high frequency notes and "buzzing" tones sound _much_ better now!
Added a Frames Per Second display so users can judge how fast the emulation is actually running.

C.A.P.S., The Classic Amiga Preservation Society just has had its first release!
CAPS, has been working for two years to create the technology to preserve original Amiga games complete with copy protection. Now the fruit of this project is starting to become available. The new WinUAE release includes support for C.A.P.S. disk images using a plugin that can be downloaded from the C.A.P.S. website.
Also on the site is a WIP update, explaining what has been happening in detail. No games are downloadable though, but are likely to become available from the "usual places".

ClrMamePro Updates - ClrMamePro has had two updates since last reported here.
If you use MAME artwork (flyers, marquees, etc.) and get the message: "ROM Path ..... matches a setname"...ignore it :O) It's only recommended to change the name of the rompath when using romsets. It's just a warning.
12/12/2002 - Version 2.86 released. Changes in this release are;
* fixed: another little diskimage related crash
* fixed: rebuilder forgets to remove some empty subfolders
* fixed: a rebuilder crash/datfile import issue for some biossets
* fixed: rare wrong/empty tree entry while doing set casefixes
* misc: automatic fastscan after drag&drop is now optional
* misc: don't skip a possible equally named 2nd archive if 1st has unfixable corrupt zipstructure
* added: logfile-/fastscan removebuttons
* added: warning if you use rompaths which match setnames
* added: more rebuilder options and pathvalues are accessable via scan results popupmenu
* added: year tags will be read, dir2dat can match/create and setinfo shows them

Dapple v1.00 build 4 - Dapple has been updated yet again (and again) and there have been quite a few changes since last update here.
1.00pt4: Reinstated the code for charsets (it's now in I18N.C).
1.00pt3: Fixed another couple bugs in the video code: first the characters were drawn one pixel too far to the left (bits 6..0 instead of 7..1); also in //e mode the code for handling lowercase inverse text was bugged. That
brought back the mousetext-on-][+ bug, which was once again taken care of.
1.00pt2: Renamed PAGEFLIP.C to VIDEO.C to reflect its new purpose as the page-flipping code is no longer needed and was removed from 1.00pt1. Also re-added (using the F3 key for mono/color from ApplePC) amber console support. Removed redrawtext() completely, as it was a dummy function. Fixed a bug in the new video.c where programs using characters 128-159 got garbage (it looked rather like MouseText).
1.00pt1: New video code contributed. There is a performance hit as interrupts are made every 65, rather than 32767, cycles, but it's worth it to get rid of those damn lines. Monochrome etc. is gone for awhile. Dapple 1.00 might be the last version, as I move on to bigger and better things (a new Apple //e emulator!) Don't worry, it'll have the same home as Dapple and will still have a few of Dapple's more exotic features.
WineX Work-In-Progress - Transgaming has issued another status report on their development. They have made significant progress on speeding up one of the major bottlenecks in Wine which effectively brings cpu usage down by 50%-60% and runs five times faster than before. The prototype code for the new wineserver was released to the community, details can be found here.

Life Sucks... - Over the past month, I lost a dear friend (who has since been buried in Ghana, Africa), one of my best friends ended up in the hospital with meningitis (hersenvliesontsteking in Dutch), my best friend was finally reunited with his wife and I drove 800km (500 miles) to pick them both up at the airport in Frankfurt. Doing 240km/h (150mph) on German highways is pretty relaxing, eventhough it's not a smart thing to do :)
