Greece Bans Arcades (not quite) - George Anastasiadis from Gameland.gr emailed me about the recent introduction of a law in Greece banning arcades! Apparently arcades are closing up all over Greece for fear of being prosecuted. You can read an English translation of the law here, or visit Gameland.gr for more info, including a petition to repeal the law. *UPDATE* - Seems it's only GAMBLING machines that were banned, but apparently many Greek arcades depended on those machines for income. Standard videogame arcade machines have NOT been banned. I apologize for my bad reporting - that's why they don't pay me anything. :P

Hypocrisy at its Finest - Everyone's favorite news site, EMU-LMAO has finally shown its true colors. At the beginning of this month, Jack shows off his inflated ego by claiming his web site is responsible for the quality of emulation news sites. Just take a look at his ego trip here. Yet, the truth is, that he wants news sites to post off-topic news! Oh the hypocrisy! What are we to think? System 22 dumping - The Guru informed us that he can receive donations directly, in order to buy and dump System 22 (and other) games. It was pointed out that obtaining the System 22 PCBs will require good connections since they are rarely traded without their cabinets. Therefore it would be most logical to donate to The Guru directly. So if you're feeling generous or just want to help out, you can do so by donating to The Guru.

Large coin-op auction - Here, let me get into "Shameless Plug" mode.. :) [obProphet] A friend of mine who was an operator here in Cincinnati is liquidating his entire remaining inventory of arcade equipment after 21 years in the business. There is a *ton* of stuff available... machines, boards, marquees, parts, etc. Lots of classic (retro, for the nitpickers) stuff there as well. It's currently on ebay here, - if the lot doesn't meet reserve, individual parts will be sold (quickly) to the best offer.. this stuff has to go ASAP, and will probably go for very good prices, so get your offers in if something interests you. [/Prophet] ;-)
