  • Romeo xmame frontend 0.1.2 - Romeo is a Java frontend for xmame with a lot of features. It uses a library by l2fprod to be skinnable and the Java Mail API for an enclosed mail module. Romeo can automatically download ROMs, screenshots, flyers etc. and can use a different config file for each game. Changes: Void has been modified to retrieve a list of games, and is now faster. The ability to show/hide tool bars and the status bar has been added. A 'LooknFeel' tab has been added to the settings window. It's possible to load a skin at runtime and reload it automatically at startup.

    • VERY VERY big BUG in RAM bank selecting fully fixed..
    • Many many more roms runs perfectly (like ZELDA_DX,NIGHTMODE,NEO-RACER or STRIPPED)
    - Griking

  • WinUAE Update - WinUAE, the Windows port of the UAE Amiga emulator has been updated to 8.22 Release 7. Changes are;
    • Bugs fixed:
    • Printer didn't work if serial port emulation was enabled

    • Button or key mapped to mouse horizontal or vertical axis
    • Random crash when horizontal centering was enabled

    • Config save crash and non working keyboard
    • ShapeShifter-support improved, all Kickstart 2.x/3.x versions supported

    • and more..
    • New features:

  • Kega Lazarus - Kega Lazarus release 4 has been released. Changes are;
    • Fixed SMS Ace of Aces issue - this game now runs without the SMS BIOS.
    • Fixed GameGear Background Colour, which I must have broken with Kega Lazarus SE :p
    • Fixed GameGear Shining Force series. These games should now work correctly.
    • Fixed slight SMS/GG Timing problem with the last H-Interrupt.
    • Fixed issue when enabling and disabling SMS V-Interrupts rapidly.
    • Altered the SegaCD CDD emulation slightly. The WolfTeam games should once again work in Kega.
    • Kega will once again become idle when minimised.
    • Added VGM Logging. VGM is similar to the GYM format, but much nicer - and supports the 8-Bit Sega consoles as well as the Genesis/MegaDrive. Plug-ins to play these files with WinAmp are available. Currently VGM does not support the SegaCD PCM chip, so these sounds will not be logged - yet.
    • Added support for the Sega Game 1000, and Sega Computer 3000. Load ROMs for these machines as Master System ROMs, and Kega will detect them at runtime. Note that most (if not all) of these ROMS will *not* work with the SMS BIOS enabled, since they lack the signature that the BIOS uses to detect them. Also note that I do not support the SC3000 Keyboard, and currently have no plans to do so (it gets in the way of the GUI :S)
    • Added "BIOS Disable" option to the SMS/GG config screen, to make it easier to get around the problem mentioned above.
    • Added SMS/GG/SG1000/SC3000 Save States. Loading of MEKA states is not yet possible, this may be added at a later date.

  • Genesis Plus / DC 0.1 - Today is the day of the Dreamcast Genesis emulators, as Blackaura has released his port of Genesis Plus in This DCEmulation Topic.

    Compatability is high - out of Blackaura's tested games, only two didn't work. Speed is around 50 percent, setting the frame skip above 1 makes it jumpy, there is currently no sound, and it is themable. The current theme is made by Politoe, and was chosen by a vote on DCEmu's message boards.

    Thanks to DCEmulation for the news. - MetaFox

  • Satourne WIP - There's been an update and some new screenshots over at the Satourne website. Targaff from our forums was nice enough to translate the text.

Support for devfs and non-standard SIO2PC cables (using the DSR instead of the RI line) has been added to the kernel driver. Several smaller bugfixes and improvements were made to the kernel driver and atariserver. - chris

  • xmame/xmess-0.68.1 - Thanks to everyone who makes these releases possible.

    Note that fronthelp.c was replaced with a slightly modified version of the Windows file, so there may be some glitches in the front-end handling. Also, if you use GCC 3.3, there will be a lot of warnings that we haven't looked into yet.

    Changes since 0.67.2:
    • Almost everything from MAME 0.68 and MESS 0.68.

  • GP32 Update - Thanks to Play-Asia, I received my replacement GP32 FLU today. I expect to post my review in two parts, with part one coming this Sunday. Hopefully some visitors will find it interesting, and yes, there will be comparison photos with the GBA SP. I'd also like to give a special thanks to Bada at JoyGP for helping me retrieve my software purchases - if you didn't know, JoyGP is a great site where you can download commercial and free software for the GP32 and install it yourself on SmartMedia cards! Easily one of the best things about the GP32. :) Now for a few GP32 news bits:

    First off, the GP32 Doom port is really coming along nicely! Today's v5 release adds brightness options, improved controls, tweaked save/loads, and more speed. Keep in mind this is TRUE Doom, and you can use any original Doom WAD files with it. Downloads are available at GP32Emu. Also check out CraigX's GBAX, he's the fellow who's been busily improving the Doom port.

    In portable Atari ST news, Skeezer is now up to v.10.2 of CaSTaway/GP. This emulator is a must-have for GP32 users. This release features numerous tweaks to the UI.

    Lastly, a very nice C64 game called XScape was ported to GP32! It's a superb puzzle game with very nice oldsk00l graphics and some thumping music setting the mood. - prophet

  • GP32 FLU Update - Well, I've been using my new GP32 FLU (frontlit GP32) for about a week and it's everything fans have said! About an hour ago Skeezix released a new version (0.6) of his astounding CastawayGP port (Atari ST emulator), which now runs full speed with CLEAN SOUND! Not to mention CraigX & Guyfawkes getting Doom to run with saves and sound! And Speccy fans should check out Speccyal'K v0.2, which has full sound now and more. I'm putting together a review of the GP32 FLU, and hope to get it online within the next week. Only problem is I had some dust under the screen, and decided to clean it out... :( Big mistake, I accidentally scratched the inner light screen, making it look far worse. DOH! So if you get one, either ignore any dust, or be incredibly careful if you decide to take matters into your own hands. I'm now trying to get it fixed somehow, which will be tricky since Game Park is in Korea... I bought it from Play-Asia, a very good import store, so perhaps they can help me out. I dunno. Depending on how things go, I suppose my review will include information about getting GP32's serviced. :) Gotta find the silver lining in the cloud I suppose. (Thanks GP32Emu) - prophet
