NeoCD/SDL DC version 2 - Ian Micheal has updated his Dreamcast port of Foster's port of Fabrice Martinez's Neo Geo CD emulator, using Sam Lantinga and the SDL team's SDL library. Here's what's new:
fixed bios loading
fixed the controller bug (thanks to fosters for the code for the fix)
total full screen display
graphics zoom is now centered on Puzzle Bobble
League Bowling now works
This is a project that has been combined from different sources. Other than the above mentioned people, the following people were also involved in this project (in some form): Troy Davis (timer bugfixes, CD-ROM loading), BlackAura (ASM to C translation), BlueCrab (z80 makefile help), Speud (-fsopen routine), Wack0 (splash screen art), Caz (BeOS NeoCD/SDL build), Karl Stenerud (Musashi M680x0 emulator), Neil Bradley (Multi-Z80 CPU emulator), Tatsuyuki Satoh (YM2610 Mame core), Derek Liauw Kie Fa. (2xSaI engine), Dan Potter (KallistiOS), GCC team (GNU C Compiler), Marcus Comstedt, Dan Potter, Bitmaster, and everyone else who reverse engineered the Dreamcast to enable homebrew to be played today.

Biggest Bang of your Life - Capcom's famous pinball machine Big Bang Bar has finally been re-created in Visual Pinmame, and what a job PacDude has done on it! This is easily one of the best Pinmame tables to date, with high resolution textures and plenty of playfield details, including the Tube Dancer. Only 13 BBB machines exist, and a standing offer to buy one for $20,000 remains unanswered, so this is likely the only way many people will evey be able to play it (outside of pinball shows). More pictures of the machine can be found here. Files can be obtained from AJ's Table Downloads and PacDude's original post can be found here.

MAME News - Some MAME news here from Stroff, the new non-HLE'd DSP emulation for the Namco System 2x drivers is coming soon (probably). It will be a bit slower than the current HLE version butprobably not as much as people might think, BUT, the good news it will fix some outstanding bugs, so just to name a few:
- missing backgrounds in Starblade (YAY!)
- collision detection for player/enemies in Time Crisis
- proper support for depth bias
- fixes various geometry glitches
- allows all "self tests" to work
Sounds good, I know looking forward to it :)

Emulation Showdown With NOA - Just a followup to yesterday's news regarding Nintendo's new emulation patent... If you've been following my news updates on ZodiacGamer then you already know that Crimson Fire, the company NOA has threatened, has decided to take on the big N and plans to release their Zodiac based GBA emulator (called Firestorm gbaZ) as GPL open source sometime next week. Warner Music Benelux lays off workers, blames piracy - Warner Music Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium & Luxemburg) is laying off 7 of its 38 employees. Also a few Dutch 'stars' are getting the boot. Ofcourse, they blame music piracy for the measure. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the new investors demanded cuts worth $200 million when they bought Warner or that those Dutch 'stars' are pretty bad and don't sell much anyway :) Still, it's bad to see 7 more people being fired.

Portable Emulation Update - Pocket PC users get a new MorphGear beta (Build 2.0.9.4 Beta) today, mostly fixing a few display issues. Have you been having problems downloading MAMECE3? Tehkmaster stopped by the MAMECE3 forum today to say that the downloads are fixed now. As an aside, did you know MAMECE3 runs full speed, 60fps on today's Pocket PC's, like my Asus A620? It does. :) He also mentioned improved sound emulation being on his "agenda to work on." Sounds good to me (silly pun intended).
Last but not least, Tapwave Zodiac users learned of a Gameboy Advance emulator in the works for their platform called FireStorm gbaZ! Thanks ZodiacGamer for the news. Heh. :P
