Alter-Ego - Alter Ego, the old Apple II & C64 text only life simulation has been ported to a free online game. Basically there are different catagories that you can have life experiences in. The game will describe a situation and then give you choices of how you would react to them. A personality profile is built for you based on how you respond to these experiences. The game spans your entire life from birth until death. I know that this is old news to some but I really enjoy this game and didn't know if it's been mentioned here before.

xmame/xmess 0.66.1 - xmame/xmess-0.66.1 is now available for download. There are several caveats for this version:
Special effects, activated via -effect/-ef, are broken unless rotation is disabled. A fix is in the works, but it increased build time and executable size too much, so it needs more work.
Xv's YUV mode doesn't work correctly unless rotation is disabled.
Several games, such as Ms. Pac-Man with artwork enabled, won't work with the new OpenGL code. Sven is aware of this, and will no doubt come up with a solution.
As usual, thanks for the many contributions and suggestions. You can grab a patch for 0.65.1 from here, or the full source tarball from here. Changes since 0.65.1:
Amost everything from MAME 0.66 and MESS CVS.
Enabling X11_DGA in the makefile causes make install to set the suid bit on the executable. (Christopher Stone)
The Barath frameskipper is now enabled by default. (suggested by Christopher Stone)
Fixed the use of sdl-config in src/unix/unix.mak on platforms such as FreeBSD. (Stijn Hoop)
Rotation has been moved to the blit core and should be a lot faster. (Shyouzou Sugitani)
Updated the GLmame driver to 0.94, which supports hardware bitmap rotation and should fix the OpenGL problems that have affected recent releases. (Sven Goethel)
Analog controls work again, and the analog code is now synced up with the Windows code. (Sebastien Devaux)
The -joydev switch now allows a full device name, such as /dev/input/js0, to be specified.
Added makecd_mame2.pl to contrib tools; this script aids with burning CDs with ROMs, flyers, and cabinets. (Luc Saillard)
Renamed -gamma-correction to -gamma to be consistent with the Win32 version. It should also work now.
An Xv-enabled build should no longer report 0 bits per pixel and stop on a display that doesn't support the Xv extension. (Alexander Miller)
The -brightness switch now works as in Windows. Removed obsolete brightness and gamma code from sysdep_palette.
Idle sleeping is now disabled while the onscreen configuration menu is displayed. This works around a problem with key and button presses not registering when setting input preferences.
The -record and -playback switches now work as in the Win32 version. Also, the inp/ directory is now created on startup if it is missing.
MAME's disassemblers are no longer built by default. This avoids having to make some ugly little patches to the core. (Christopher Stone)
Removed the obsolete 8bpp update functions from most of the targets. This should speed compilation and produce a smaller binary.
Building on IRIX should again work "out of the box".

Simpsons pinball rulesheet - The Simpsons Pinball Party is now shipping and is showing up on locations around the country. Bowen Kerins has made up a preliminary rulesheet for it which can be seen here. What is notable about this particular game's rules is the complexity.. this may very well be the most complex pinball ever made, surpassing even Twilight Zone in depth and breadth of rules. A refreshing change from the more basic games that have come out recently. Check it out!

Emu 5kb - Emu 5kb is an cross platform "enhancing" chip8 emulator in Javascript in exactly 5Kb (including ROM image of Brix). Enhancements include;
Colour graphics (ball, paddle, bricks and a background image).
Bricks fade out when you hit them.
Things don't flicker when they move (play Brix in any other emulator to get a seizure).
Emu 5kb runs best in the latest version of Mozilla, use A to go left, D to go right. The code is a bit untidy in places, and not as fast as it could be.
